YAY!!!!

For the first time in my life I can say, I HAVE A JOB!! I work at an amusement park that takes me 25 mins to get there by public transportation. I will be working in a store that is located in the amusement park and as long as I work for them I will never have to pay to go into the park!! It's not full-time, hell it's not even part-time but it's a job nonetheless. I have all ready met a bunch of people and have made new friends so I hope work can be enjoyable.

La Plata Magnifico 10 year aged

Alittle info on this stogie and the line "La Plata" before my actual review, La Plata is the house blend that is at the B&M that me and Serg spend some of our Fridays. The cigar is called Magnifico and it's last production was back in 1997, 10 years ago, so one Friday I decided to smoke this cigar (which is only available in Corona size) and I was amazed with it. This was my third time around with this one cigar.
Size: 5 1/2 x 42 Corona

Wrapper: Nicaraguan
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan

Appearance: Pretty tasty looking wrapper, Dark Natural covered a bit in "plume". The wrapper was a bit rough but nothing too serious that will dock major points. The band is simply, nothing too extravagant.

Pre-light: Clipping was simple but I did have to be careful since it was a small ring gauge, I didn't want to cut it wrong. The pre-light draw seemed alittle tight but it let up while smoking and the pre-light flavors reveled some nice leathery and earthy notes.
Burn/Draw: The burn was spot on all through out this cigar, nice and sharp, practically perfect. The draw, tight at first, eased a bit and was pretty damn good; it unleashed nice clouds of smoke that lingered for some time when I blew the smoke out. The aroma had a spiciness to it, AWESOME.

Flavors: Right off the bat, the first puff seemed to have a perfect combination of heavy earth and leather notes with alittle spicy hint to it. This went on for the most part 2 inches into the cigar, after that the spicy hints became more and more combined with the with earthy/leather notes. And toward the end of the cigar (around 2 inches left), the spice took over alittle bit and the earth/leather gave way to it, kinda sad to have it fade in the end, maybe it's because of the time it's been aged. Overall this is one great stogie that I will most likely smoke again and again.

Well Tom, The Blues didn't fare any better in there opener. They TIED 1-1 and there head coach announced that he is stepping down. This isn't what the blues need.

Football Wrapup: Chelsea Fall To Aston Villa, Celtic Trounce St Mirren's

http://www.chelseafc.com/page/NewsHomePage/0,,10268~1104669,00.html

The Villa Park difficulties continue as Mourinho's men go down to a first defeat of the season, conceding goals just after half-time and a few minutes before the final whistle.

A disjointed performance left the Chelsea side struggling to create genuine chances in the box and despite a whole host of set-pieces in our favour, Scott Carson in the Villa goal had too little to do.

It is loss that raised memories of the game at Middlesbrough early last season and questions will inevitably be raised about the team's ability to function without Frank Lampard. A two week break now awaits before positive answers to those can be given on the pitch.

Chelsea (4-3-3): Cech; Belletti, Alex, Terry (c), A Cole; Essien, Makelele (Kalou 62), Mikel (Pizarro 52); Wright-Phillips (J Cole 62), Drogba, Malouda.

Booked Drogba 68

Aston Villa (4-4-2)
: Carson; Mellberg, Knight, Laursen, Bouma; Agbonlahor, Reo-Coker, Barry (c), Young; Moore, Carew (Petrov 78).

Scorers Knight 47, Agbonlahor 88.

Booked Reo-Coker 55, Barry 70, Carew 70, Agbonlahor 70.

CELTIC returned to domestic action with a bang after their recent Champions League endeavours, drilling five past SPL opposition for the second league game in a row.

Given the midweek, extra-time exertions against Spartak it was perhaps expected that the early stages of this match would be something of a slow-burner, with both sides measuring each other in a cagey opening 20 minutes.

Gordon Strachan’s men were also adjusting to three changes in the midfield, with Paul Hartley, Evander Sno and Derek Riordan replacing Shunsuke Nakamura, Massimo Donati and Aiden McGeady.

Against St Mirren, Gordon Strachan’s men again stepped up a level, producing a thrilling, highly entertaining performance, with five different players all getting on the scoresheet.

Goals:

Celtic: S Brown 22', McDonald 25', Vennegoor of Hesselink 54', Riordan 56', McManus 74'

St Mirren: Miranda 75'

With the squad now breaking up for the forthcoming international series of international fixtures this win will send the players off on a high and the supporters genuinely looking forward to their return home against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on September 15.

In response to UEFA Groups

Well Tom, looking at the the groups, its clear that Chelsea shouldn't have a hard time advancing from there group. Valencia and Schalke 04 come from the Spanish and German Leagues, respectively, and either one of those two can take the second spot to advance to the round stages. Rosenborg, a Norwegian football team, won there league title but are most likely going to end up as the bottom feeders in this group.

The group that I'm worried about is Group E, which I call "The Group of Death". Which features Barcelona, the team I am still taking to win this group but it will have it's hands full with the other competition. Others include, Olympique Lyonnais a.k.a. Lyon for short which has won the French Division 1 Title the past 7 years!!! Stuttgart, the winner of the German Bundesliga and Glasgow Rangers, runners up in the Scottish Premier League, 2nd to Celtic...heh.

And my opinion on Celtic is this, they have a great chance of advancing from Group D, if they can BEAT Benifca. A.C. Milan will be the group leader which means the last spot will be up for grabs. Benfica is a very good offensive team that will not stop from attacking and Shakhtar Donetsk, um.....maybe next year?... :D.

The follow is how I think the groups will play out... :)

*UEFA Champions Cup
**UEFA Cup

Group A
*Liverpool
*Porto
**Marseille
Besiktas
Group B

*Schalke 04
**Valencia

Group F

*Roma
**Sporting Lisbon

Group G
*Inter Milan

**CSKA Moscow
Fenerbahce
Group H...I will wait for the winner of the Sevilla/AEK Athens game until making a prediction.
Arsenal
Sevilla/AEK Athens
Steau Bucharest
Slavia Prague

Champions League Group Draw

Group A
Liverpool
Porto
Marseille
Besiktas

Group B
Chelsea
Valencia
Schalke 04
Rosenborg

Group C

What do you think of your teams chances jeebus? I was talking to some people who know way more about European Club Football than I, and they seem to think Celtic can get out of the group they are in in 2nd place (behind the powerhouse AC Milan). That seems exciting to me!

Your Opinions?

Ashton VSG Robusto

This is my second review of a VSG, you can read the first here

Size: 5 1/2 x 50 Robusto

Appearance: As usual this cigar is pretty damn good looking. The wrapper had no damages and no blemishes. It had a nice dark brown look to it....very nice.

Pre-light: Cutting this cigar was easy and the pre-light draw revealed a nice spicy tang that I simply love. I ran my nose along side of this cigar and it was more of the same, spicy goodness with a hint of leather.

Burn/Draw: The burn was never really in question aside from some rough patches in the beginning but like I said, not too serious. The draw was absolutely fabulous from start to finish, no drag and not too loose, PERFECT.

Flavors: At the start the cigar had a nice little spice with some leather hints to go along with it. But as the cigar got i little farther along (an inch in), the flavors got a hell of alot more abundant. The spiciness got more apparent and the leather hints combined with the spice, with some hints of wood. It also became the full bodied stogie that it is and it remained the full flavored VSG that has become a favorite among many many cigar smokers. I would love to smoke one of these again, absolutely great.

In response to "Inresponse to 'not soon enough'"

To My fellow beaner blog staff:

Why does all fandom have to be so hard? I mean look at me?

New England Revolution - 12W 5L 6T 42PTS First Place MLS Eastern Conference (Best Record in MLS)

Boston Red Sox - 80-51, First Place American League East (Best Record in MLB)

I mean, summertime and the ROOTIN' is EASY!

TomC

In response to "not soon enough"

Although the Galaxy are pretty much out of the MLS playoffs and the coach is mostly likely going to lose his job, you must keep rooting! And that goes for every team in every league (MLB, NBA, NFL, etc. etc)

It's your job as a TRUE fan

Not soon enough...

okay, i've had about enough with the galaxy. it seems they have forgotten how to win a game, and if they dont win this wednesday's superliga final against pachuca, im dropping them for the year. Still, "word on the street" is that frank yallop, the coach, is on his way out, and my boy Jurgen Klinsmann is on his way in. I hope that turns things around, so that we can just blow up the team, start anew next year with becks, donovan (maybe) and cobijones (hopefully). Next time, i'll rant on about the troubles with the atlanta braves and about the asswhooping team usa is putting on the americas in basketball...
