Partagas Serie D #4

Size: 4 7/8 x 50 Robusto

Appearance: A great looking cigar that screams with CUBAN GOODNESS!!! Great Looking wrapper, awesome construction and the triple cap looks perfect as always. Great clayish looking color, a typical cuban cigar.

Pre-light: Before I clipped this fine cigar, I ran my nose all around it. I had a sweet almost earthy smell to it and the foot had some spice to it. Clipping this stogie was easy and the pre-light draw was not at all tight, it was perfect.

Burn/Draw: The burn on this stogie was spot on!! I never had to do any major touch ups and the burn looked awesome (I smoked this one at night), seeing the burn at night was a real treat. The draw was outstanding all the way threw and the all the smoke that I exhaled just settled in one spot. VERY NICE!!!

Flavors: Right off the bat, I got some major spice and pepper, but nothing really all that over powering. It remain like that for about the first 5 puffs but soon after the cigar just amazed me!!!! The next inch and a half or so, the cigar took on a different flavor that almost shocked me. The cigar became smoother and a whole lot creamier, almost sweet as well. It also had a very distinct cedar flavor to it that I absolutely loved!!!!! It was pretty much the remainder of the cigar that was like this (smooth and woody almost nutty). I didn't want it to end, an excellent cigar overall that must be smoked if you have one!!!!

Casa Fuente Belicoso Fino

Size: 5.625 x 52 Belicoso

Appearance: Very nicely constructed cigar that has a kick ass band!! The wrapper was fairly smooth (alittle rough), the pointed end (torp shaped) wasn't off to the side like you would find on other cigars.

Pre-light: Since i like to moisten the tips of torpedo and belicoso sizes, i did the same to this one. It had an earthy goodness and was also accompanied by a little tangy spice. Clipping this cigar was easy thanks to the shape and the pre-light draw reveiled a great draw, the flavors consisted of spice, earth, and mixed in with some sweetness.

Burn/Draw: The burn was never a factor, it was great from the first couple of puffs, all the way till the last one. The draw was like nothing i've seen before, a BUNCH of smoke from this cigar helped me appreciate this stogie even more.

Flavors: Right off the bat, i got flavors of spice and of wood. But as the cigar progressed to about 2 inches in, I got some sweetness and the cigar became mellow to me. I even thought "Huh, this doesn't seem so tough". But as I got more and more deeper into the stogie, I started noticing the spice returning, now i thought "uh oh!!!". It became more spicy but i also got what seemed to me as sweetness with it.

Overall: A good cigar, but with a hefty price tag $25 give or take

Bolivar Royal Corona

Size: 4 7/8 x 50

Appearance: Looked like a classic cuban, beautiful wrapper and awesome color to it. No damages to it and it had no major issues. The triple cap was spot on and the foot looked like it was good enough to eat.

Pre-light: I ran my nose along the side of the wrapper and it was just heavenly. It had that sweet cuban earth aroma to it with faint hints spice. I cut this cigar with my cutter and it was fairly easy, left a nice, precise cut. The pre-light draw revealed a nice draw, alittle tight but nothing to off setting.

Draw/burn: In the first inch of this cigar the draw was manageable and the burn was pretty spot on. As the cigar progressed, the draw loosened up and the burn became alittle off but it never really bothered me.

Flavors: Right off the bat i got a load of creamy goodness with alittle of a spicy undertone. All the way through this stogie it was the same, creamy earthiness that now i can't get enough of!!!. Not to mention that it also a good supply of spiciness and it had that vegetal flavor too. A really really really good treat, anyone who loves cubans must smoke this cigar quickly!!!!

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure #2

First and for most i would like to say thank you to Tom a.k.a. ColbyPants for sending me this fine stogie for me to try out. It was a long wait but i finally got the green light from him to smoke it and smoke it i did.

Size: 4 7/8 x 50 Robusto

Appearance: This cigar is most definitely a pretty one, a beautiful looking wrapper that had absolutely no blemishes or any really noticeable veins. The wrapper was very smooth and oily.

Pre-light: Before I clipped this cigar I ran my nose through out the cigar and it had and that sweet "cuban earth" that I have just grown to enjoy. When it came down to clipping the cigar i used my Xikar and it made quick work of the triple cap that was on top of the cigar. The pre-light draw revealed a nice sweet smooth flavor and it ad a bit of a drag to it but none the less it was great.

Burn/Draw: Right off the bat the draw was great, and burn was alittle off but that was because of my poor lighting. As the cigar progressed the draw remained the same and the burn corrected it self of my wrong doing. The ash was firm, I only tapped off the ash once because it held on pretty well through out. The burn was also great, I never had to so any touch ups.

Flavors: After lighting this cigar, the first couple of puffs were incredible!!! It had a smooth, creaminess to it, almost a mushroomy flavor. It had some notes of sweet spice to it, cinnamon and nutmeg. As I got deeper into the cigar (about an inch and a half in), it had more of a spice factor to it and the cool thing was that the spice didn't linger in my mouth like other cigars. Toward then end of the cigar, it had got more spicy and it still had alittle of the mushroom flavor in it, a real great treat.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!.....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!!...GO SMOKE THEM!!!!

I smoked a Cuban Crafters Cameroon today but the cigar was horrible to say the least. The draw was too tight, the wrapper split in two and the burn was downright UGLY. Though i haven't given up on this cigar, i will try it again, maybe mine was a dud

Ashton VSG Wizard

Size: 6 x 56

Appearance/Pre-Light: It was by far a really really beautiful looking cigar, and i couldn't wait to light this one up. The wrapper had a nice dark look to it and it had absolutely no blemishes on it. At first I thought i was going to have a hard time cutting this cigar because of it's large ring gauge but my Xikar handled the challenge. The pre-light aroma reveled a nice sweet spice smell with a bit of a woodsy after tone.

Flavors: The first inch or so of this stogie was a bit of a let down, i was getting ready to say "This thing is weak!!!". But when i got to about two inches in to it, it absolutely hit me!!. It had just a great combination of spice, wood and a nice sweet/nutmeg to it, the burn was a major problem to me mainly because it burnt a little funny in the beginning. As i got into the final third of the cigar, the spice seemed to cool down abit for about two or three puffs. Then it quickly got back to it's normal spicy goodness, and the flavors intensified. The spice became more and more rich and i knew if i smoked more of it i would be paying the price for it, so i stop with about an inch and a half left.

Overall: A great cigar but it is not for beginners, also look for a smaller ring gauge to prevent burn issues.
