CAO The Sopranos Associate
Appearance: This cigar looks good enough to eat, a nice dark/oily wrapper . It has two bands that are pretty cool looking and the cigar had no serious blemishes or major veins to report about.
Pre-Light: Before lighting this cigar, I took some draws from it and I got some light flavors of wood and leather. Cutting this cigar wasn't too bad and lighting it was hard either.
Burn/Draw: The burn started great, nothing bad EVER happened with the burn on this cigar. The draw was pretty normal, it was too loose or too tight, it was just right. The smoke that was a result of the draw wasn't abundant, but just enough to let me get the flavors.
Flavors: The first buff on this cigar was a real treat, it was loaded flavors of leather/earth goodness with some hints of wood. This happened for the first inch of the cigar then the flavors somewhat died off. Then the cigar went into a period of just being okay, nothing too special almost bland. But once I got to about an inch and a half left, the cigar got more and more flavor full....hmmm, weird.
YEESH!!
That's gonna change, a new cigar review in about a couple of hours.

Camacho Triple Maduro
Appearance: This cigar is one dark and tasty treat. The wrapper is so dark and it has absolutely no visible damage on it, although it was a bit rough..nothing too serious like veins and peeling.
Pre-Light: Clipping this cigar was very easy, thank god for the torpedo tip. Some of the pre-light draws that I took revealed some nice dark and rich earthy notes with some spicy goodness to it. I couldn't wait to light this bad boy up.
Burn/Draw: All the way through out this cigar, the draw was never in question. It was never too loose or too tight, just right. When I first started to light this cigar, I noticed that it wasn't lighting!!! It took me at least 7 mins to get a good light on it (major point deduction). The burn wasn't something to be proud to be about, but nothing too damaging to the experience of the cigar,
Flavors: Right off the bat this cigar seemed to be loaded with some earthy richness with a little hint of spice. This was continuous for the first 4 or 5 puffs of this stogie, then it took a turn that kind of surprised me. The cigar completely changed, all of the heavy earth flavors somewhat left completely. Untill later in the cigar the earth flavor returned and the spice notes increased but I couldn't hep but feel this cigar was alittle rushed while being made, it is still very young and it will only get better with age. I would love try again with some age on it.
Recommended but somewhat of a disappointment for me.

La Plata Magnifico 10 year aged
Pre-light: Clipping was simple but I did have to be careful since it was a small ring gauge, I didn't want to cut it wrong. The pre-light draw seemed alittle tight but it let up while smoking and the pre-light flavors reveled some nice leathery and earthy notes.
Flavors: Right off the bat, the first puff seemed to have a perfect combination of heavy earth and leather notes with alittle spicy hint to it. This went on for the most part 2 inches into the cigar, after that the spicy hints became more and more combined with the with earthy/leather notes. And toward the end of the cigar (around 2 inches left), the spice took over alittle bit and the earth/leather gave way to it, kinda sad to have it fade in the end, maybe it's because of the time it's been aged. Overall this is one great stogie that I will most likely smoke again and again.

Football Wrapup: Chelsea Fall To Aston Villa, Celtic Trounce St Mirren's
The Villa Park difficulties continue as Mourinho's men go down to a first defeat of the season, conceding goals just after half-time and a few minutes before the final whistle.
A disjointed performance left the Chelsea side struggling to create genuine chances in the box and despite a whole host of set-pieces in our favour, Scott Carson in the Villa goal had too little to do.
It is loss that raised memories of the game at Middlesbrough early last season and questions will inevitably be raised about the team's ability to function without Frank Lampard. A two week break now awaits before positive answers to those can be given on the pitch.
Chelsea (4-3-3): Cech; Belletti, Alex, Terry (c), A Cole; Essien, Makelele (Kalou 62), Mikel (Pizarro 52); Wright-Phillips (J Cole 62), Drogba, Malouda.Booked Drogba 68
Aston Villa (4-4-2): Carson; Mellberg, Knight, Laursen, Bouma; Agbonlahor, Reo-Coker, Barry (c), Young; Moore, Carew (Petrov 78).
Scorers Knight 47, Agbonlahor 88.
Booked Reo-Coker 55, Barry 70, Carew 70, Agbonlahor 70.

CELTIC returned to domestic action with a bang after their recent Champions League endeavours, drilling five past SPL opposition for the second league game in a row.
Given the midweek, extra-time exertions against Spartak it was perhaps expected that the early stages of this match would be something of a slow-burner, with both sides measuring each other in a cagey opening 20 minutes.
Gordon Strachan’s men were also adjusting to three changes in the midfield, with Paul Hartley, Evander Sno and Derek Riordan replacing Shunsuke Nakamura, Massimo Donati and Aiden McGeady.
Against St Mirren, Gordon Strachan’s men again stepped up a level, producing a thrilling, highly entertaining performance, with five different players all getting on the scoresheet.
Goals:
Celtic: S Brown 22', McDonald 25', Vennegoor of Hesselink 54', Riordan 56', McManus 74'
St Mirren: Miranda 75'
With the squad now breaking up for the forthcoming international series of international fixtures this win will send the players off on a high and the supporters genuinely looking forward to their return home against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on September 15.

In response to UEFA Groups
The group that I'm worried about is Group E, which I call "The Group of Death". Which features Barcelona, the team I am still taking to win this group but it will have it's hands full with the other competition. Others include, Olympique Lyonnais a.k.a. Lyon for short which has won the French Division 1 Title the past 7 years!!! Stuttgart, the winner of the German Bundesliga and Glasgow Rangers, runners up in the Scottish Premier League, 2nd to Celtic...heh.
And my opinion on Celtic is this, they have a great chance of advancing from Group D, if they can BEAT Benifca. A.C. Milan will be the group leader which means the last spot will be up for grabs. Benfica is a very good offensive team that will not stop from attacking and Shakhtar Donetsk, um.....maybe next year?... :D.
The follow is how I think the groups will play out... :)

Futbol
Few actually know this but I am an avid Soccer Fan!!! Since I was a little boy, soccer has been a key part of my life and it's pretty much the only thing me and my dad have in common...aside from baseball (but that's a different post). The teams I mainly follow are my hometown Los Angeles Galaxy and Las Chivas de Guadalajara.
So there you have it, aside from being a baseball fan I am also a soccer nut (but that's expected because i'm a beaner)
and Chivas won today!!!!!!....woot!!!!
--Jeebus
**EDIT - TOM ADDS SOME THOUGHTS!**
Now, since I have some opinions regarding soccer as well I am gonna try to get Jeebus to write a joint post with me on his blog about the real football. At least once a week during the season. This week will be just a simple into and the teams we like, as thats whom we would most write about. I too follow an MLS team. I dont care theat the international community sees it as a feeder league, that makes me want to defend the native professional league that much more. I root for the New England Revolution, the team from the area I grew up (who also won tonight).
When it comes to Euro Soccer, my team of choice is Celtic FC of the Scottish Premier League (largely because our mutual friend of the blogosphere, Princesse, insisted I root for a scottish team, and i decided to take her seriously regarding it). I have not been rooting for the Bhoys long, but I am learning fast. Today they also managed to win handily (five to nil) to maitain their second place in the standings!

But the lost of BTTF will effect me for years and years to come.
Also had an all you can eat day at Universal, basically you pay 25 bucks and you get to eat a bunch of crap and as many times you want.....and let me just say this....GO STARVING!!!!! BP was fairly average, having not played in a baseball game since HS, my timing was off but nothing alittle more practice will regain. And i will say this, whom ever played catcher as a position in baseball, I TIP MY CAP!!!!! While my friend and business partner Captain Crash was pitching, I was catching. And although I only caught about 30 balls, I can safely say my knees are now feeling the burn ;)

Ashton ESG 20 Year Salute
Appearance: A great looking stogie, awesome construction. One of the best looking bands that i've ever seen on a cigar.
Pre-light: I cut this cigar using my Xicar cutter and it was a very clean cut. I took some pre-light draws, the cigar had some earthy spice to it with a small hint of wood. I ran my nose up and down the cigar, also the foot, and it revealed a deep earthy almost sweet scent on the wrapper.
Burn/Draw: The burn on the cigar was spot on through out and the draw was never a factor. Although it did start to go out but that was my fault as i was too busy talking to a friend.
Flavors: The first third of this cigar was filled with earthy flavor with a hint of spice, nothing too over powering. The majority of this cigar was like this with the spicy hints continuing to be more and more apparent. And with about 2 inch's left on the cigar, the earthy flavor gave way to the more spicy/cedar flavor. I kept smoking it though all the way until about 3/4 inch left!! IMO this cigar get alot better toward the last third or so, definitely one of a kind but nothing like a VSG. Full flavor but I would smoke a smaller size. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
THANKS MIKE D!!!!

Partagas 898
Size: 6 3/4 x 43
Appearance: An absolutely great looking cigar. Beautiful cap on it and the wrapper had that classic cuban color to it. There were no flaws in it, a perfect cigar.
Pre-light: I ran my nose by the wrapper, and the wrapper had a nice sweet smell to it almost creamy. Clipping the stogie was easy and the pre-light draw was great and revealed a nice tangy-sweet taste....very nice.
Draw/Burn: The draw was great all the way through the cigar, and the volume of smoke was bigger and bigger as the cigar progressed. The burn was a little iffy, but nothing too serious.
Flavors: In the beginning, the cigar had a very smooth creamy flavor to it. The typical cuban flavor that i have started to grow more and more familiar with each one i smoke. Toward the middle and end of this cigar, it started to pick up some steam. I had a spicy pepper flavor but it wasn't overpowering, just enough to let me know it was there. And even with the pepper flavor, it still had the hint of creaminess in it. A real treat.

Partagas Serie D #4
Appearance: A great looking cigar that screams with CUBAN GOODNESS!!! Great Looking wrapper, awesome construction and the triple cap looks perfect as always. Great clayish looking color, a typical cuban cigar.
Pre-light: Before I clipped this fine cigar, I ran my nose all around it. I had a sweet almost earthy smell to it and the foot had some spice to it. Clipping this stogie was easy and the pre-light draw was not at all tight, it was perfect.
Burn/Draw: The burn on this stogie was spot on!! I never had to do any major touch ups and the burn looked awesome (I smoked this one at night), seeing the burn at night was a real treat. The draw was outstanding all the way threw and the all the smoke that I exhaled just settled in one spot. VERY NICE!!!
Flavors: Right off the bat, I got some major spice and pepper, but nothing really all that over powering. It remain like that for about the first 5 puffs but soon after the cigar just amazed me!!!! The next inch and a half or so, the cigar took on a different flavor that almost shocked me. The cigar became smoother and a whole lot creamier, almost sweet as well. It also had a very distinct cedar flavor to it that I absolutely loved!!!!! It was pretty much the remainder of the cigar that was like this (smooth and woody almost nutty). I didn't want it to end, an excellent cigar overall that must be smoked if you have one!!!!

Appearance: Looked like a classic cuban, beautiful wrapper and awesome color to it. No damages to it and it had no major issues. The triple cap was spot on and the foot looked like it was good enough to eat.
Pre-light: I ran my nose along the side of the wrapper and it was just heavenly. It had that sweet cuban earth aroma to it with faint hints spice. I cut this cigar with my cutter and it was fairly easy, left a nice, precise cut. The pre-light draw revealed a nice draw, alittle tight but nothing to off setting.
Draw/burn: In the first inch of this cigar the draw was manageable and the burn was pretty spot on. As the cigar progressed, the draw loosened up and the burn became alittle off but it never really bothered me.
Flavors: Right off the bat i got a load of creamy goodness with alittle of a spicy undertone. All the way through this stogie it was the same, creamy earthiness that now i can't get enough of!!!. Not to mention that it also a good supply of spiciness and it had that vegetal flavor too. A really really really good treat, anyone who loves cubans must smoke this cigar quickly!!!!

CAO Italia
Size: 6 1/4 x 54
Appearance/Pre-light: At first glance this stogie kinda scared me, being alittle more then 6 inches it seemed that i might take atleast 2 hours to smoke it. But on the other hand, it was more cigar to love, the wrapper had almost a sweet smell to it and it had very few imperfections. Clipping the stogie was easy and the the draw was great; very smooth and it didn't have a drag to it. The pre-light draw presented abit of a sweetness with some tang mixed in as well.
Lighting/Flavors: Lighting the cigar was very easy and it never went out, but more importantly the burn was very nice. The burn surprised me because since it was a bigger ring gauge i thought that the cigar would burn too quickly on one side then the other...but i was wrong. The first 2 inches of the cigar were simply great, with an abundant amount of sweetness and earthy flavors; also with those flavors the presence of alittle spice entered into the picture. As the cigar progressed, the flavors intensified!....and the presence of spice became a bit more and more greater. I ended up stop smoking it because i had to go meet up with some friends but not until i smoked about 4 1/2 inches of it. =)
Overall: An excellent cigar that leaves you wanting more and more of it.

Lovo Figurado Rosado
Appearance: This cigar is truly one of a kind, it has a red wrapper and this is important because anyone who smokes cigars knows that wrappers don't NORMALLY come red. Anyway, the shape of this stogie is called Figurado, it has kind of a weird look to it almost cartoonish. The wrapper it self had no real damage to it, the veins on it were minimal and it had a very smooth feel to it.
Lighting/Flavors: After i clipped this cigar i quickly light it with my BIC lighter... ;). Having only a small foot to light (about half an inch or so), it was really easy to fire up this one. Although at first the draw was EXTREMELY hard for the first inch and a half, it quickly let up and the draw became manageable. The flavors from this cigar are really simple....SPICE!!!! But the spice wasn't over powering and the cigar also had hints of leather and earthiness to it. In the second half for the cigar it was pretty much more of the same with some tangyness to it.....(Colbypants).
Overall: This cigar is a real treat and anyone who gets there hands on one should smoke it NOW!!!!!!......the only down side of it, my lips looked red because of the wrapper.....small price to pay for a really good smoke.

Padron 1926 40th Anniversary
Size: 6 1/2 by 54 Natural
My first impression of the stogie was....WOW!!!!.....it was absolutely beautiful. Lighting the cigar was a breeze and the burn was dead on all the way through till the end of the cigar. The first couple of puffs were a bit strong almost bitter BUT it got a hell of alot better... It had a consistent flavor of chocolate, mocha and almost a sweetness to it, that keep getting better and better and BETTER as the cigar progressed. Toward the end of the cigar it changed to more of a fuller body but not too overpowering and it kept the rich savory flavors that it had since the beginning. I smoked it until i had about an inch left to go...even though i didn't want to stop i knew i had too...LOL
All in all it really is a treat and i was LUCKY enough to get a hold of it because without Doc i wouldn't have ever gotten my hands on one....So thank you Doc for giving this kid the chance to smoke this wonderful cigar....and i hope that whoever smokes this fine stogie has the same experience that i had.

Oliva Series G Maduro
This cigar was a good one, the draw was perfect and the burn was dead on. From the first puff to the very last one, it had to same character. It was loaded with spice, leather, and earthiness to it. BUT!!!!....It seemed to get hot very fast, and i've noticed this in Oliva cigars, although i did enjoy this stogie....i was let down by the flavors because it did change much...and i love it when stogie change flavors on me.....maybe next time.

This cigar is most definitely one that i wouldn't mess around with. From the first puff i was able to tell that this one was gonna be a strong one. The construction on this cigar was absolutely outstanding and the burn was as sharp as i've ever seen. It had a consistent flavor of spice, pepper and wood with small hints earth and it seemed almost sweet to me. Overall a good cigar but due to it's strong character....one that i wouldn't recommend to someone who is beginning

Size: i'm not really sure...i think i was the signature???...
Construction: At first glance this is a very very unique cigar with almost a closing at the foot. It looks great and the wrapper was very smooth, it was ALMOST a shame to smoke it... ;)
Lighting/Draw: It took about half a second to light this stogie because of the narrow foot. The draw was a bit on the tight side but nothing serious that hampered my experience.
Flavors: I would have to say that this stogie is a medium to full cigar. With hints of spice and wood i can really see why this was a favorite of Mikey......THANKS A MILLION!!!!

Construction: Very Smooth wrapper, no flaws and the the foot of the cigar is perfect
Lighting/Draw: Since this is a small cigar, lighting it was very easy. I was able to get a nice toasted ring all the way through the foot and i NEVER had to re-light it.
Flavors: i got hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. And this cigar presented an almost creamy sweetness that i have never tasted in a cigar.
I highly recommend this one to anyone who is looking for there first cigar

Partagas Black Label
Construction: Short and Stumpy, very dark and surprisingly smooth wrapper, not veiny.
Lighting/draw: Lighting this stogie was fairly simple and it never needed a re-touch. The draw a little on the tight side put i guess that's normal when it comes it short cigars.
Taste: At first i will have to admit i thought this was going to be an excellent cigar but about an inch in to it....i got tired of smoking it because the only flavor i keep getting was the maduro taste that comes with a maduro wrapper. I got no other significant tastes or flavors from it!!!!

Jesus Bravo
History
4-2-07
Christianity, as a whole is pretty much the direct belief that Jesus Christ is the messianic savior. It started in the mid-first century as it separated it self from its Jewish origins by the Apostles. Jesus is the messiah in Christianity; only through him can some one find salvation and acceptance. The Gospels are examples of myths in Christianity because of the stores and events that are described in them. In the gospel of mark, there is no mention of the resurrection of Jesus; a key part of Christianity, and in the other gospels they mention such an event taking place. Roman Catholics believe in the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth although the no exact evidence except the bible exists to prove the event true. The main scriptures in Christianity, is the Holy Bible and the gospels of Mark, Luke, Matthew and John. The symbol that is most connected to Christianity is the Cross in which Jesus Christ was crucified. There are many rituals in Christianity, the ones that I am most familiar with are Baptism and the Eucharist; which is the “body and blood” of Christ, Roman Catholics perform this ritual more than any other branch of Christianity.
Hinduism is the most unique and most perplexing religion that we have learned so far. Hinduism started in India at about 3300 BCE and spans more than 9000 years. Its chief myths are the stories that are about super humans and spiritual people that rid the world of evil, vanquish demons or offer help to fallen people. Its scriptures are the Vedas which are the oldest scriptures in Hinduism and the Bhagavad-Gita which means “Song of God” and that is a text that contains the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna. The rituals in Hinduism are sacrifice and it was mainly practiced in the early parts of the religions beginning. In Hinduism there are many different gods that play certain parts in the religion and they are represented in many sculptures that are colorful and very amazing.
The central belief in Christianity is the bible and Jesus Christ and in Hinduism it is Dharma (ethics and duties), Samsara (circle of birth), Karma (action and consequence of action), and Moksha (liberation from samsara). The bible is key to Christianity because everything revolves around the worship of Jesus Christ, this structures the religion as the main belief for Christianity, and he is depicted as a kind man who performs acts of kindness for his fellow man. In Hinduism, the central part of it is the reincarnation and Vedas. These structure Hinduism because these are the main principles in Hinduism; the Vedas are scriptures that are followed by every follower of Hinduism. In Samsara, the person is to continue in the cycle of life, rebirth after rebirth until the chains of Samsara are broken by the goddess Kali, who is this vicious looking woman who walks along the sides of battle fields and collects heads of the fallen.
The differences in these two religions are vast because although they have a higher being, they are completely different. In Christianity, there is only one god, one higher being, and is depicted as a caring person and a loving god. In Hinduism, there gods are feared and vicious looking like Kali, who is decorated in human skulls but with this goddess there is no way one can brake the chain of samsara, so they are forever entrapped in the cycle. In Christianity there are no gods that are which to be feared and there is no sacrifice to the god because there is only one god. In Hinduism the sacred is manifested through sacrifice and through the practices of thee Vedas and/or yoga. In Christianity the main principle is to pray, worship, and remember all sacrifice that Jesus Christ went through. It is the opposite of what Hinduism is because there are so many scripture; the Vedas, the yogas and many different gods that are prayed to, different from Christianity which only has one god and one main scripture, the holy bible.
The differences between these two religions are a lot great then I previously imagined. Whether it is the vast amount of gods in Hinduism or the many scriptures, the Bhagavad-Gita, which is so many different stories about the god and all the battles that occurred in early Hinduism, is way different from the bible. The bible also has many different stories; the gospels, old and new testament, etc. but those stories are nothing compared to the stories in Hinduism. These differences showed me how very different and unique Hinduism is, but also how odd as well. The nature of religion is vast and very complicated, although I have learned about the differences of these two religions, I have yet to grasp the main concept of religion. But certainly learning about them I can get a firm understanding of how my people think and what people believe in as there daily lives.

A New Hope
Opening day brings up many great feelings and some bad ones too. It was last year that Jesbus (Jeebus) and I stood in line waiting for opening day tickets to the Braves-dodgers game at Dodger Stadium. Well, it was no surprise that we did not get them, and sadly, it was a great game, a high scoring game, an exciting game. The Braves spanked the dodgers, yet, we went the next night, and for some reason, the Braves lost that one.
But those feeling should be forgotten, because opening day is like, well, the Messiah if you will…it brings hope for everyone. Well, at least for one day…(unless you’re a Cubs fan, then sadly, you just don’t have any)…

Partagas Fall Selection
Pre-draw/Lighting: Clipping this cigar was fairly easy due to it's skinny structure. The pre -draw was a bit on the tight side but it didn't hamper the draw. Lighting was fun, i got to use a triple torch lighter...so it lit perfectly and i never had to do any touch ups or re-lights
Taste/Flavors: The taste of this stogie was almost chocolaty, it reminded me alot of the Partagas Black Label. The first half of this cigar was differently full bodied and rich in almost a dark chocolate taste. The middle of the cigar was pretty much alot of the same (chocolaty)....i had a flavor that i have come to describe as "a partagas taste" because they all are similar in a way. i enjoyed this cigar very much so that i might even smoke another....if it's for free again.

RP Connecticut
Pre-light/Clipping: Well the clipping was a breeze....i used a normal cutter which was the only one available at my B&M. The pre-light draw so very smooth, creamy, with a little hint of sweetness to it.
lighting/Flavors: Lighting was fairly simple and i never had to touch it up. I had a perfect cone when i dumped the ash(a sign of good construction) and it was a razor sharp burn. I mainly got hints of what tom (colbypants) would describe as tang and faint hints of creaminess. The flavors left me a bit disappointed.......but i would still recommend it to any one looking for a very mild cigar.

Montecristo #4
Appearance/Lighting: Like i said it is a small cigar, the wrapper was smooth and it wasn't at all vainy. Lighting the cigar wasn't an issue, i simply just toasted the foot until it was a nice golden brown and re-lighting was never an issue with this stogie.
Taste/Flavors: At the beginning of the cigar, i was getting hints of wood and spice but as i got toward the middle....It was simply GREAT. At the middle, the cigar was very creamy and smooth, it was almost sweet to me. This cigar to me was most definitely a mild to medium.

an introduction!
Hi! I am TomC, author of The Smoking Lounge, and a friend of King Jeebus. We met through the best online sight for "Brothers of the Leaf", Stogie Chat! He invited me to contribute some content to his blog and every now and then I just might, though I don't want to intrude on his show.
Hope You all enjoy the place!
